St. Patrick’s Day Gnome Craft for Kids

Lately I’ve been on a little gnome kick. If you saw the Valentine gnome paper craft I posted earlier, you probably already guessed another one was coming. These little guys are just too fun to make, and I love switching them up for different holidays.

So of course, it only felt right to create a festive version for March. A lucky little gnome ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Step 1: Choose your template version

First, print your gnome template. You’ll notice there are two versions included.

• The black-and-white version is perfect for tracing onto colored paper (this is the one I used in the photos).
• The full-color version is great for kids to practice their cutting and pasting skills. Just cut the pieces out directly and glue them together.

Pick whichever version works best for your kid.

Step 2: Trace and cut the pieces

Use a pencil to trace each shape onto the correct color construction paper. I used green for the hat and body, orange for the beard, yellow for the belt buckle, black for the belt, brown for the boots, and beige for the nose and hands.

Step 3: Cut out each shape

Once everything is traced, cut out all the pieces. The shapes are big and simple, which makes them easier for beginners to work with.

Step 4: Assemble the gnome

1. Glue the boots to the bottom of the main body piece.

2. Add the beard on top of the body.

3. Glue the hat on top of the beard.

4. Add the black belt across the hat.

5. Glue the black square buckle on top of the yellow buckle base, then glue the full buckle on top of the belt.

6. Place the shamrock in the center of the beard.

7. Finish by adding the hands on top of the shamrock and the nose on top of the hat.
