Ice Cream Truck Craft Printable (Fun Summer Activity)
Today I’m sharing an easy summer craft. This one has been a favorite lately. It’s simple to set up and fun to make. There’s just enough interaction to keep it interesting.
This ice cream truck craft works well for preschool and kindergarten, but older kids enjoy it too.
It focuses on basic skills like coloring, cutting, and gluing. Younger crafters may need a little help with cutting, while older ones can add extra details and decorations to make it their own.
My favorite part is the window scene. Instead of a flat page, you’re building a small setup inside the truck. Adding the ice cream and the person makes it feel more like a little story. It gives the whole craft a more playful feel.
What you’ll need
- Ice cream truck printable template (grab it down below!)
- Printer
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Glue stick
If you have cardstock, it’s definitely worth using. It helps the truck hold its shape better, especially once the awning is attached and slightly bent.
How to make this Printable Ice Cream Truck Craft
Step 1: Color the pieces
Start by coloring all of the pieces on the printable. This includes the truck, the awning, the ice cream treats, and the person.
This is where the craft really comes to life. Bright summer colors work especially well here. There’s no right or wrong way to do it.
Step 2: Cut everything out
Once everything is colored, carefully cut out all of the pieces.

Step 3: Bend and attach the awning
Take the awning piece and gently bend it along the fold line.
Add glue along the top edge only, then attach it just above the window on the truck. Let the bottom hang down slightly.
Step 4: Decorate the window
Now it’s time to decorate the inside of the truck.
Let them choose their favorite ice cream pieces and glue them inside the window. They can move them around first to decide where everything should go.
Step 5: Add the person
Glue the person inside the window so it looks like they are serving ice cream.
They can place the person wherever they like, on one side or closer to the middle.
Step 6: Let it dry
Let everything dry for a few minutes, then the ice cream truck is ready to display!
Tips for the best results
- Use cardstock if possible for a sturdier craft
- Bend the awning gently instead of folding sharply
- Use a small amount of glue to avoid wrinkling
- Let pieces dry before moving the craft
Keeping things simple really works best here. Clean cuts and light glue make a big difference in how the finished craft looks.
A few fun variations
Once you’ve made one ice cream truck, it’s fun to try different versions.
You could:
- Use different color combinations for each truck
- Create multiple trucks with different ice cream styles
- Slightly layer the ice cream pieces for a raised effect
