Turkey Headband Craft for Kids (Free Printable)
This turkey headband craft is a fun Thanksgiving activity that’s easy to print, make, and wear. This free printable craft comes together with just a few basic supplies and makes a cute accessory for celebrating Thanksgiving and fall.
One of my favorite things about printable headband crafts is that they come together quickly.

After printing the template, most of the work is simply coloring, cutting, and adding tape. It is an easy activity that works well at home, during Thanksgiving gatherings, or as part of a seasonal classroom project.
The best part is seeing every finished turkey look completely different. Even when everyone starts with the same template, the colors and decorations make each one unique.
What you’ll need
- Free printable turkey headband template – grab it down below!
- Heavy printer paper or cardstock
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils (optional)
- Tape
- Scissors
- Printer
Step 1: Print the turkey headband template
Download and print the free turkey headband template. You’ll receive both a pre-colored turkey headband and a black and white version that can be colored in before assembly.
The printable also includes an extra page of headband strips to help create the best fit.

For a sturdier headband, I recommend printing on cardstock.
Step 2: Choose and color your turkey
If you’re using the black and white version, color the turkey before cutting it out. Traditional Thanksgiving colors like brown, orange, yellow, and red look great, but feel free to get creative with your own color combinations.
If you’re using the pre-colored version, you can skip this step and move right to cutting.
Step 3: Cut out the pieces
Carefully cut around the turkey and the headband strips. If you printed the extra strip page, keep those pieces nearby so you can adjust the size later if needed.

Step 4: Size the headband
Wrap the headband around the kid’s head to find the best fit.

Use the extra headband strips included in the printable to make the band longer if needed.

Once you’ve found the right size, tape, or staple the ends together to create the finished headband.
Step 5: Wear your turkey headband
Place the finished turkey headband on the kid’s head and adjust it until it fits comfortably. Now it’s ready to wear for Thanksgiving celebrations, classroom activities, festive photos, or simply enjoying throughout the day!
Tips for making your turkey headband
- Printing on cardstock helps the headband hold its shape better while it’s being worn.
- If you’re making several headbands, print plenty of the extra strip page so everyone can easily find a comfortable fit.
