How to Make the Moses Parts the Red Sea Folding Craft
This craft doesn’t require any complicated supplies or special tools. The main part is folding the paper correctly so the waves open and close.
Step 1: Print the Moses Craft Template
Start by printing the purchased Moses folding craft PDF on US Letter paper.
Choose between the full-color version, which is ready to cut and fold, or the black-and-white version, which can be colored first.
Step 2: Color the Bible Craft
For the black-and-white version, color the illustrations before cutting and folding.
Step 3: Cut Out the Printable
Carefully cut around the outer edges of the craft.

Step 4: Fold the Paper in Half
Fold the craft vertically in half. Make a neat crease along the fold.

Step 5: Fold Both Sides Back
Fold one side back in half.

Repeat with the other side.

These folds create the opening and closing effect that makes the waves move apart.
Step 6: Open the Red Sea!
Now for my favorite part!
Gently open the folded paper to reveal Moses and the Israelites crossing through the Red Sea.

Close the folds again to bring the waves back together.
Repeat the movement while retelling the Bible story. It’s a fun way to make the scene come to life.
The Bible Story Behind the Craft
This printable is based on Exodus 14, when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt.
After leaving Egypt, the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s approaching army. They were frightened and didn’t know how they would escape.
But God told Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea.
God sent a strong wind that divided the water, creating a path of dry ground. The Israelites walked through the sea safely, with walls of water on both sides.
Once the Israelites had crossed, the waters returned.
The story reminds us that God was with the Israelites, even when they couldn’t see a way forward.
